Jan 19, 2010, so I'm....

Finishing the recording of a new demo today, and will start recording another. Many people need records, and I gotta get these out.

About the Folgers, I hit my manager up about it, and also sent e-mails to the marketing department at the Smucker company (they own Folgers). Haven't heard back yet, but will keep at it. We believe the jingle will give Folgers a fresh , young sounding jingle that will cater more to the college the market (let's face it..the ones that could really use the coffee after long nights out, and needing to get up for 8am classes).

Later this week, I'll also be writing and recording a new song to release online myself.

Stay up...

Friday, Jan 15, 2010 - Folgers and New Records

On the schedule for today...I'm getting in contact with Folgers about a jingle Ezemdi and I wrote for them.

I have two new records I'll finish recording and mixing for David Saint (which we will be shopping right away), and I have a track from J. Hart (via Danny Reynolds) that I'll finish and send to him today.

Also yesterday, a major label sent me their artists who are looking for records, and it's time to get busy submitting records to them as well.

I'll update as I finished.

New Year - Full Steam Ahead

I reflected on last year, and realized everything I have done to this point has prepared me to make things happen in my music career, and for the music industry as a whole. I believe God gave me the gift to write songs because I have something to offer the music industry, and fans of music across the world. The biggest challenges in music I have faced are, getting the right music to the right artist in time for their album. Looking back, I was not utilizing all of my resources. I'll admit, I became a little complacent after a few big TV placements. But that should have made me work harder.

Yeah, I made an excuse or two, about not being able to get stuff done, but those days are over. I am keeping myself inspired to create, and make the business connections I need to get the album and television placements. It's not easy, but tons of songwriters have done it, what's the difference with me? It's how hard I'm willing to work, and how much time I'm willing to put into it until it works. I'm taking more ownership of my career, instead of "waiting" for things to happen.

When I mentioned keeping myself continually inspired, I read a blog by music industry veteran, Eric Beall. (http://ericbeall.berkleemusicblogs.com/).

My face is always in Billboard magazine reading about what's going on in other careers, and how I may be able to align myself with that.

But first and foremost, I'm putting the love back into making music. For a while, it became more business like...almost like work! (ugh!!) But that's because I was focused on the wrong things.

With all that said, and I'll qoute my good friend Danny Reynolds from our conversation yesterday, "No one can stop you, but you." (I know others have said it, but I qoute who I want :-)

With a brand new CV-12 microphone (http://www.avantelectronics.com/index.htm) gracing my vocal booth...I'm ready to work!

Here we go!!
